Our Craft

The craft behind every Extraordinary

Zari is a centuries-old metal-thread embroidery technique, traditionally drawn in fine gold wire across silk. On Extraordinary, that foundation of zari work is layered by hand with sequins, pearls, glass beads and crystals across a gold silk upper.

Each embellishment earns its place: zari for the underlying lustre, crystal and glass bead for the light that moves as you do, pearl and sequin for the depth between. Nothing here is machine-stitched; every element is set by hand, which means the density and placement carry the quiet variation of true craftsmanship from one pair to the next.

Care

Keeping the embroidery in shape

•Store in the dust bag it arrives in, away from direct sunlight, when not in use.
•Keep away from water, perfume and oil-based products, which can mark the thread work.
•Wipe the base gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear.
•Avoid folding or creasing the toe when storing, to protect the embroidery.
